Gas Safe Registered – a mark of certified safety
Being a plumber is not the same as being a Gas Safe engineer. A plumber must upgrade their skills and become a Gas Safe Registered Plumber if they also want to work on gas appliances. This means that we can complete not only basic plumbing work, but fitting and maintenance of gas appliances.
So what do you get when you employ an approved member of the Gas Safe Register? Obviously, you’re guaranteed a high standard of work. Approved members are regularly inspected by specialists from the Gas Safe Register while doing their work, and after the job is complete. They also have to prove that their qualifications are up-to-date, and that they’re aware of industry changes and new technologies. These qualifications have to be completed and passed every five years to keep Gas Safe accreditation.
The majority of gas fitters work in the domestic business, which means in homes rather than in businesses. They have to demonstrate competence in different areas of gas fitting before getting approval by the Gas Safe Register, so just because your gas fitter can work on a boiler, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’d be able to fit a gas fire for you.
